''HEAD IN THE CLOUDS''

As passionate admirers and strong supporters of street and underground art, we wanted to find a way to bring graffiti art from the streets into peoples’ everyday lives. We have followed GLOW’s abstract vibrant artworks for some time, so we decided to contact and collaborate with him on this unique project. GLOW’s work is strongly embedded in the urban environment and he achieves a positive transformation of the public space thanks to his distinctive and recognizable style.

We came up with the idea of turning one of GLOW’s artworks that he created especially for this project into an abstract puzzle and as a bonus – a signed poster. When assembled in its box, the puzzle becomes a piece of desk art. We named the project ‘Head in the Clouds’ and wanted to convey the feeling of summer, freedom and the seaside. We made the box out of mirrored cardboard so that it reflects the art and helps it ‘’burst out’’ of its conventional frame.

We chose to work with the HP Indigo machine for every part of this project because of its high quality properties, the vibrant colors that are so essential and, especially, the high-resolution printing. The HP Indigo machine gave us the opportunity to work with any paper type we wanted and the technology allowed us to execute incredibly precise printing, like the fine text in white ink on the mirrored cardboard surface.

We also used HP Indigo Hexachrome printing with added orange and violet colors. Thanks to that we managed to achieve an expressive and vibrant eye-catching appearance that brings to life our concept of reflection and art going outside the metaphorical and literal frame.

We used 3D UV varnish on the mirrored box so that it looks like it’s written in water and we used it on the puzzle itself to create different textures and patterns that bring connotations to summer time. We also used metallic and colored foil print effects on the puzzle to make it catch the viewer’s eye by sparkling.

The project was a resounding success and received a lot of positive feedback, making it our best self-promotional so far.
