What is the FSC certificate?

In the early 1990s, public concern and interest in deforestation became a global problem. People want to be sure that the wood products they buy are not contributing to the destruction of forests. In response to public attitudes, at the meeting in Rio de Janeiro in 1992 a decision was made to create a standard that would provide a commonly accepted norm for what constitutes a well-managed forest. Subsequently, it was developed by the non-governmental organization Forest Stewardship Council - FSC (Forest Stewardship Council).

The international FSC label guarantees that the corresponding wood products are not the result of exploitative, but rather socially and ecologically oriented forestry. When harvesting wood from FSC-certified forests, the environment is protected, the diversity of flora and fauna is preserved, and the rights of the local population are also respected.

Only wood and paper products whose production is certified according to the strict principles of the FSC can carry its label. Compliance with this rule is checked by independent experts.
